This event is part of black.art.empowerment: i see, i speak, i am movement event series

$ELFIE$, by Marikiscrycrycry (aka Malik Nashad Sharpe), is the third performance in a series that mobilizes Black and queer aesthetics against the current political climate. Through an expanded choreographic proposition, Sharpe and collaborator Kam Wan fiercely traverse the emotional landscapes of “allostatic load” (wear and tear on the body due to repeated stress), setting ambivalent responses to political melancholia alongside unapologetic joyousness and violence.

Sharpe excavates complexified dance systems, experimenting with the choreographic form at the unruly juncture of possibility and marginalisation. Kam Wan is an artist and model based in London, regularly performing with Dalston Ballet and Marikiscrycrycry.
