Flicker is an innovative multi-media performance that reveals the mystical realm portrayed through coastal masked dance. Just as light shimmers, Flicker (as in “woodpecker”) represents the moments through which one can cross space and time, as the masked dancers journey in and out of the ‘spirit world’ of their ancestors. Choreographed by Margaret Grenier, this 7th production bridges First Nations traditions and more current forms.

Based in British Columbia, the Indigenous dance company Dancers of Damelahamid has produced the annual Coastal First Nations Dance Festival since 2008. Works in the company’s repertoire have been presented on the national and international scene.
