Corpo Sonoro is a collective that was first created in Brazil by musician, percussive dancer and choreographer Taia Goedert. The collective’s current focus is to research and develop new body languages combined with contemporary musical practices that are in direct conversation with elements of popular Brazilian culture and traditions.
After a few years of living in Montreal, Taia rekindled the collective’s practice and invited a new team of artists, Bia Pantojo and Cleo da Fonseca, to explore the trio’s relationship to their bodies as musical instruments in conversation with themselves and each other. This new iteration of Corpo Sonoro is composed of three female brazilian artists, immersed in different artistic practices – namely circus, acrobatic arts, puppetry, performance, music composition, and contemporary dance – who also carry a range of experiences within popular brazilian culture and dance.
