MAI offers short-term guidance and mentoring on the one hand and mid and long term mentoring on the other.

For both types of guidance and mentoring programs, are eligible:

- Individual artists or organizations
- Creators/performers of artistic works
- Professional artists or soon-to-be professional artists
- Members of a cultural community
- Residents of Montreal (Canadian citizens or permanent residents).

Other criteria
- Artistic merit of the project
- The artist’s ability to be commited to the project
- Interest for the project by the contemporary milieu and/or cultural institutions
- Artists’s experience in Montreal or elsewhere
- Support for the project or the artist from the milieu and/or producers
- Project feasibility (budget and logistics in particular)

Short term guidance

Short term guidance (loan of technical equipment, promotional support – such as the use of the MAI database, e-mailing, press releases; support for specific activities: public relations, technicians, etc.) will be evaluated by MAI employees.

Deadline for Submissions: anytime (with a minimum deadline of three weeks before the activity)

In order to determine the required documents for submission for short term projects, please contact Miruna Oana, Activity and Guidance Service Coordinator.

Mid- and Long-term guidance

Mid and long term guidance proposals will undergo a full evaluation by MAI’s artistic advisers, in collaboration with the executive director and her assistants in visual and performing arts. Five projects will be selected per season (September through June). Please see the list of required documents for these types of projects.

Deadline for Submissions: August 27, 2010 (the Guidance Service Coordinator will contact you by October 2 of the same year)

Required documents for long term projects:
- Name of the artist or the organisation
- Status and mandate (if an organisation)
- Description of artistic practice and Artist statement
- History of your professional artistic activities
- Resumes for each artist and participants
- Project description (dates, timeline, space and technical requirements, organization, objectives, etc.)
- Description of the project’s intercultural approach
- What are your specific needs from the MAI
