With its rich and exciting programming, the second edition of this multidisciplinary event offers up an excellent opportunity to celebrate the MAI’s 10th anniversary. In honour of this special occasion, the MAI has commissioned 10 creations on the theme Folies from artists working in dance, video, and music. Come and see short free-form, hybrid works… foolish, absurd, alienated, improvised, comic, or just plain mad! The evening will be hosted by the queen of the night, Queen Ka!
Eclectik the show
Madly in love, mad as a hatter, stark-raving mad, mad with joy – there are many ways to live madness. Whether it is through individual agitation or collective hysteria, we encounter madness in the absurd moments of our daily lives, and in the violence and chaos of the modern world. But we also find it in ourselves, in our hopes and irrational fears. To encourage experimentation and new alliances in interdisciplinary art, the MAI has invited artists from various disciplines to represent madness in their own way, either as duos or as larger ensembles. Invited artists are Khadija Baker, Alex Cattaneo, Valérie Chartier, Moe Clark, Stéphanie de Courteille, Hinda Essadiqi, Sarah Febbraro, Gamaliel Fonseca, Ayesha Hameed, Queen Ka, Fabrice Koffy, Komodo, Maya Kuroki, Meena Murugesan, Alexandra ‘Spicey’ Landé, Karl Lemieux, Clea Minaker, Tomomi Morimoto, Emmanuel Proulx, DJ Static, Handy Yacinthe, Danilo Villaflor and many others…
