Moi, petite Malgache-Chinoise

Claudia Chan Tak (Montréal)

9 - 11 déc., 20h

Accompagnement jumelé en danse CAM + MAI

Part contemporary dance, part documentary, Claudia Chan Tak proposes with Moi, petite Malgache-Chinoise, a subjective retelling of her personal story tinged with the imaginary and that followed a pilgrimage to Madagascar where she was deluged by childhood memories: a young girl more interested in animals and in nature than in real people. Using these recollections, she weaves a very personal tale that mixes memories, impressions, and unshakeable clichés. Lying somewhere between reality and the oneiric, she sketches an intimate geography of her existence.

Director and performer, *Claudia Chan Tak*’s often playful practice oscillates between dance, performance, documentary, film and multi-media. Her creative work investigates familial, cultural, and imaginative bonds, along with the sources of confrontation, reconciliation, and liberation.
