Juana is a character inspired by Los cuentos de Juana, from the Colombian novelist Álvaro Cepeda Samudio, but also by *Alejandra Manrique*’s life. The artist creates a fiction around this ambiguous character through the manipulation of different videos and photographs. The viewer is invited to enter into this fragmented and asymmetric universe, and to occupy the space in order to recognize the traces of both identity and culture that make up the multiple selves.

Born in Bogotá, Alejandra Manrique has a BFA from the National University of Colombia and just completed her MFA at the Université du Québec à Montréal. She has participated in many exhibitions in Colombia, Canada, France and Morocco. Manrique is also interested in mixing and editing video techniques, specifically the new digital narrative form.
