“Unnerving, whelming and steadfastly compelling.” – Eye Weekly, Toronto

When her mother leaves for Canada, 15-year-old Mudgu Sankofa is left in the care of her oh-so-strict grandmother in Kingston, Jamaica. As her story unfolds, Mudgu discovers menstruation and faces personal crisis, all the while longing for love and protection. This Dora Award-winning tour de force is at once tender and raw, strange and filled with a loving pride.
