Kenyan-born of Indian descent, and living in North America since childhood, artist Brendan Fernandes explores his diasporic identity — one of inner struggle between his memories of Kenya and the perspective he now has as an adult of his country of birth. A provocative exhibition whose title means “hurry up, hurry up,” in Swahili, Haraka Haraka showcases three recent works that address issues of cultural authenticity, memory, and migration.
