Contemporary African Dance
September 24 to 27, 2009

Sisi (Sister in Shona) is a prayer for hope and solidarity. Told through the language of African-contemporary dance, choreographer Gibson Muriva shares the story of his four sisters, confined by their gender, their culture and the HIV epidemic that threatens all women of Zimbabwe. This is a story of struggle and redemption as one man speaks out for his own beloved sisters and in doing so, speaks out for all oppressed peoples.
