Will we run out of breathable air? Taking Breath by Naishi Wang summons the subconscious to the conscious, the passive to the active; questioning how we take the air we breathe for granted. How does breathing affect movement, our thoughts? When does it become a form of communication?

Originally from Changchun in China, Wang is an emerging choreographer and reputed performer who moved to Canada in 2004. He has collaborated with renowned choreographers including Peter Chin, Paul-André Fortier, and Heidi Strauss. In 2018, Taking Breath premiered at the Citadel + Compagnie in Toronto, followed by performances in Hamburg at the Monsun Theatre.
